International Education Study Abroad Program

International Education is designed in its broadest sense to include all programs, projects, studies, and activities that encourage an individual to learn, understand and care about the world beyond his or her community and to transcend culturally conditioned, ethnocentric perspectives, perceptions and behaviors.

Under the direction of the Coordinator of International Education, the Study Abroad Program presently offers four venues--fall semester in Florence, Italy, Spring semester in Oxford, England, and summer programs in Paris, France and Salamanca, Spain. Students earn college credit in these quality academic/cultural programs lead by Riverside Community College faculty. For an application to teach abroad or for further information concerning the study abroad programs, contact the coordinator at (951) 222-8340, Quadrangle 104, Riverside Campus.

School of Education

The RCCD School of Education was formed in 2002 as an organizing center for academic programs in early childhood education, pre-teacher education, and future programs preparing paraprofessional instructional aides for the public schools. The School's academic programs, both transfer programs and certificate programs, are offered on all three RCCD campuses. In addition, the School was created to represent RCCD's programmatic interests in the proposed highly innovative Center for Primary Education, scheduled to open in the La Sierra area of Riverside during the fall, 2007. A.A. and A.S. degree candidates at RCCD campuses may prepare themselves to the maximum extent allowable under California credentialing regulations for transferring to university teacher education programs in preparation for careers as elementary and secondary teachers. They also may prepare fully for careers in early childhood education and the awarding of an Early Childhood Studies Certificate and the state awarded Child Development Permit.

School of Nursing

Two curricula are offered in nursing: The Associate Degree Nursing Program leading to licensure as an R.N. and the Vocational Nursing Program leading to licensure as an L.V.N. The Associate Degree Nursing Program is accredited by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). The Vocational Nursing Program is accredited by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT).
