DEPARTMENT CHAIRS AND INSTRUCTIONAL DEPARTMENT SPECIALISTS
2007-2008

The Department Chairperson is a faculty leadership position with responsibility for an instructional department as designated by the College. They are elected by the eligible faculty of the department, report to the campus Dean of Instruction. They serve as advisors to the College administration in matters pertaining to curriculum, instruction, scheduling, faculty evaluation, and the general operation of the College instructional program. The specific responsibilities of the chairs are located in Appendix F of the Agreement between the District and the CTA. In all department matters, the chair performs the tasks in cooperation and consultation with department faculty.

Instructional Department Specialist (IDS)

Addresses and Telephone Numbers - Faculty must provide the IDS (and, if applicable, the campus administration office) with their current addresses and their home and work telephone numbers. If there is a change during the semester, faculty should notify the department office and campus administration office immediately.

Additionally, faculty must file a change of name or address with the office of Human Resources. Faculty with unlisted phone numbers or post office box number addresses must provide the office of Human Resources and their department chair with their home phone numbers and street addresses.

Repairs and Maintenance - Report all requests for repairs or classroom supplies and maintenance to the department chair or IDS.
