Grants: (range from $400-$5350, subject to change) Grants are financial assistance awarded to students based on financial need and do not require repayment if students successfully complete their courses. Grants consist of the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), the Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) and the Cal Grant. Completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov is the basis for all the grants and loans listed below. Student need to add RCC Title IV school code #001270. Certain certificate or short term programs may not qualify for grant or loan assistance. Students may visit one of our SFS Academic Counselors to inquire about your programs eligibility. You can help by encouraging students to complete the FAFSA online. You can also invite our staff into your classroom for financial aid presentations and scholarship workshops.

Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGW): (waive fees from .5 units to maximum unit load) The Board of Governors Fee Waiver is a state program which waives enrollment fees and reduces parking fees for the Fall and Spring semesters for qualified students who are California Residents. To apply for the BOGW, students need to complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov and list the RCC Title IV school code #001270. The BOGW does not pay for books, student services or health fees, or additional class fees. You can help by pushing the FAFSA application and encouraging ALL students to apply for financial aid.

Federal Work Study (FWS): (students can earn up to $4000 per year) The FWS Program offers students the opportunity to earn additional funding through part-time employment. It also allows students to gain work experience and pay for a portion of their educational expenses. All positions require that students maintain half-time enrollment and a minimum 2.0 CGPA. You can help students by hiring them in your department.

Scholarships: (range from $50 - $6000) Students may utilize scholarships at RCC in two ways: Scholarships from sources outside of RCC or from scholarships offered through the RCCD Foundation. A list of scholarships available from outside sources, including free internet scholarship search sites, is published throughout the year and is available at the SFS website. The RCCD Foundation scholarship brochure for continuing and transferring students is available during the fall semester with an application deadline in early December. You can help students apply for scholarships by writing them recommendation letters and encouraging them to apply each fall for the available foundation scholarships. You can also serve on the RCC District Scholarship Committee.

Student Financial Services Counseling/Outreach: Students who need assistance to apply for financial assistance, search for scholarships over the internet, or meet with our SFS Academic Counselors can visit our office located on the Riverside City Campus behind the Bradshaw Student Center. Loans: Riverside Community College District (RCCD) strives to help students reach their educational goal with the least amount of student loan debt possible. RCCD participates in the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) program. We offer Subsidized and Unsubsidized FFEL Stafford loans to help students achieve their career goals. The loan applications are available during the fall and spring semesters in the SFS office on each campus.

Students may not be aware that financial aid programs are available or may feel that they would not qualify for assistance. Please encourage students to complete the FAFSA and visit our website. Workshops are available for assistance and we offer walk in assistance during business hours. A quick announcement each semester could change the educational experience for your students while at RCC.
