Policy
The
flexible calendar program provides time for full-time
faculty to participate in professional development activities
that are related to "staff, student and instructional
improvement" (Title V, Section 55720). For information

of State Guidelines for the Implementation of the Flexible
Calendar Program
FLEX
Contract Process
- On
Campus FLEX: Sign up and attend workshops/activities
throughout the year. Print name on sign-in sheets.
- Individual
Plan:
Fill out the online form in the "Individual Activities"
section (www.flextrack.org) Our office will forward
this to your dept. chair for approval. Submit evidence
of completion to Office of Faculty Affairs after activities
are completed in accordance with your approved plan
(required by state regulations, Title V, Section 55727
& 55728).

FLEX
Purpose
The
state pays faculty salaries for their 18 FLEX hours. The
hours may be used for:
- Improvement
of teaching
- Maintenance
of current academic and technical knowlege and skills
- In-service
training for vocational educationand employment preparation
programs
- Retraining
to meet changing institutional needs
- Intersegmental
exchange programs
- Development
of innovations in instructional and administrative technique
and program effectiveness
- Computer
and technological proficiency programs
- Courses
and training implementing affirmative action and upward
mobility programs
- Other
activities determined to be related to educational and
professional development pursuant to criteria established
by the Board of Governors of the California Community
Colleges, including, but not necessarily limited to,
programs designed to develop self-esteem.
